ANCESTRAL CARE
Testimonials
Ana-Maria looked after my mother, who has dementia, for four weeks while my husband and I were away. She lived in our house (where my mother lives too) and took care of my mum’s every need. She cooked appetizing and nutritional meals for her, provided snacks and kept her company. She administered pain relief medication and a topical antibiotic cream. She did everything efficiently and with great care. I know that my mum appreciated it all so very much and the fact that she was able to stay in her own home meant that disruption to her routine was kept to the bare minimum. Ana-Maria cleaned, shopped, washed clothes and ironed. In fact she took great care of everything and she left the house spotlessly clean and tidy. She was perfectly communicative and also used her own initiative very well indeed.
To sum up: Super-efficient, wonderfully caring and compassionate, reassuringly organized and extremely trustworthy. We highly recommend Ana-Maria as a caregiver.

Having asked Ana-Maria to look after a relative during a forthcoming holiday, we suddenly faced a crisis: my aunt choked on some food, passed out and needed CPR to bring her round. This led to her becoming bedbound, in substantial pain and understandably depressed. We asked Ana-Maria if she could step in at short notice. Within two days, this expert carer had the 91-year-old lady moving, smiling and feeling there was something to live for. She was kept active, eating, clean and properly looked after in ways my wife and I would not have understood or managed. Highly recommended.

Ana Maria was initially employed to look after my brother-in-law as my sister was undergoing treatment for cancer and was struggling to look after herself never mind her aged husband.
From day 1 Ana slowly but surely managed to change the dynamics in the house from struggling to being capable of living a normal life once again.
She was well accepted by both parties and took on more deeds and hours to suit them. Sadly my sister’s health deteriorated and Ana then helped to look after her as well.
As a nurse myself of 40+ years I was pleased to work alongside her. She is delightful, chatty, knowledgeable and empathetic: all the qualities required by a good carer.

Ana Maria has cared for my mother over the last year, providing short respite breaks. She is extremely well-organised, conscientious and caring. Nothing is too much trouble and we are able to relax, knowing that mum is in good hands. Ana-Maria has also twice looked after our two dachshunds at the same time. My mother does not have complex needs and is independent, so Ana-Maria respects her wish to do things for herself and is careful to encourage her to do so. Ana-Maria is trustworthy, cheerful, flexible and very positive. We are very glad to have her help.

Ana came to work for us from March till October. We needed someone confident, trustworthy and caring to keep an eye on Mum, 92 years old, still living independently, but beginning to need help here and there such as a guiding arm when shopping and a helping hand when cooking a meal. Ana was all of these things, and more.
We were able to offer self contained accommodation next door and Ana encouraged us to install cameras so that she and we could keep an eye on Mum and make sure she was safe. We live locally but both my brother and I were working away for a large chunk of this last year so were pleased and relieved to feel Mum was in very good hands.
We felt we could always discuss Mum’s needs with Ana and she would be careful to put them into action. As agreed, and on a couple of occasions when she had previously arranged work with other clients, her colleague Mariana replaced her and was as caring and careful as Ana herself. Mum was very happy to have the companionship of either of these lovely ladies.
Ana has endless energy, it seems, is a wonderful cleaner, and even offered to paint the replacement back door when it was fitted!
I would and will ask Ana to come again to help with Mum. Her nursing experience , even though Mum didn’t need it, also made me feel relaxed about leaving her in control.
I can honestly say her presence helped us get through a tricky year with minimum worry and total confidence that Mum was in safe hands.
